Mariposas! (Butterflies!)

Every year millions of Monarch butterflies migrate up to 2,000 miles from Canada and the United States and spend the months of November to March northwest of Mexico City in Michoacan.  This past weekend we took the opportunity to take a day trip to see them, and I am so glad we did.  The 2+ hour drive and one hour uphill horseback ride/hike were completely worth it.  The wooded butterfly reserves are a beautiful area in and of themselves and to see millions of beautiful orange butterflies congregated in a small area - clumped together in the trees for warmth, covering the ground, and flying overhead - is an amazing sight.  If you happen to be in the area  during the winter months I definitely recommend you make the trip.

Josiah was a little less enthralled than the rest of us.
